We’re OK

Just a quick update about Wallkill, the farm didn’t seem to get much damage from the hurricane-maybe a down tree here or there. We spent Monday in a 2nd story room with some friends and we watched the wind out the window waiting for the storm to hit, but it never quite made it our way.
We even thought we’d get Tuesday off…until our overseer called to tell us we were cleared for work. Pajama day over.
I know this is not the case for other areas, in fact this photo in insane. We really love this park.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know the farm still stands and we’re back to work!
A family visit and our first modular party

Stephen, Leigh and Matthew visited The Farm for a hilarious tour on which we honestly couldn’t answer all of their questions (what is the late breakfast room??) And that day, John and Karla (right in the first photo) happen to be touring-a complete coincidence. Karla is Joey’s cousin from Canada on his mother’s side, her and her husband have just returned from an assignment in Haiti for a construction project, it was so great to see them!
This of course led to a spontaneous entertainment opportunity in our little room, and I’m so glad to this happened because in addition to spending time with family I was able to overcome my hesitation to cram people in our room, turns out there’s plenty of space. (see photos below).
We also attended the Annual Meeting at Patterson, got to see the Finneys and walk through the Patterson orchard right at Sunset, at truly unbelievable day.

Discovering New Paltz
August 20, 2012 § 2 Comments

About 15-20 minutes away from the farm is a little town called New Paltz, it’s a college town and kind of hippie but they have some neat stores and great resturants which is nice to know since there are only about 2 restaurants in Pine Bush (where the farm is located). We checked it out on Saturday and met some friends for Sushi, which turned out to be very good (the friends and the food).

And of course there was store browsing

And more eating, clams and Guinness on the patio!

I may have purchased a pair of vintage sunglasses…

And doesn’t this gazebo remind you of Sound of Music?

Thank goodness Bethel TVs get PBS
